Lauren Eager '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lauren Eager. I live on a farm in the “thumb” of Michigan.  I am a goalie and the captain on my high school boys’ varsity co-op team, Thumb Area Legion. This is my third year playing with them, and I love it. The competition is challenging, which helps me to improve every day. Before I played with the Legion, I played with the Flint Lady Jr. Firebirds until the team folded in the fall of 2021. I definitely enjoyed my time with the Lady Firebirds, and my teammates were like sisters. Other Michigan girls’ teams are over an hour and a half away from me, and, having a larger family, not feasible during the regular season. Aside from hockey, I play softball, track, and cross country. I was the captain of the cross county team this year. I attend Peck High School and am graduating in 2024. I have a 4.0 gpa. I am generally a quiet person until I get on the ice. I believe communication is very important in hockey; my defensemen need to know if they have a person on them and if a pass lane is open. Also just as importantly, I think that it is the goalie’s job to stay positive and encourage their teammates. I find that if the goalie gets down, the whole team gets down. Goalies need to have short term memory on the ice and be able to let go and move on, for the sake and success of their team.
