I have many goals for my years to come in college, one of those goals is to challenge myself academically so I can have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to have a positive impact in my community and make a difference. I hope to challenge myself not only in academics but also in sports. I have a strong passion to play Hockey and love the many aspects of this sport from endurance to stick work. I want to play as long as I can and would be ecstatic to play in college. I started playing at age 7 after many years of asking my parents if I could play. It’s a decision I’m glad I made. I love being a part of a hard-working team and am sure to stay positive and never give up. If we are down a few points in a game I don’t think of that as the time to call it quits I think of it as a wake-up call to play even harder. This year our team's motto was, “There is no traffic with us on the extra mile.” I made sure to stick to that every day, always working as hard as I could. I value building up my teammates and promoting a positive team atmosphere. I never get mad at a teammate for a mistake and never place the blame on a fellow defender for any mistakes.
I make sure to always respect my coaches and teammates and listen closely to instructions even if those around me are talking. Not only do I work hard on the ice, I also work hard off the ice in school. I’m in all honors classes and currently am a member of the National Honor Society and French Language Honor Society. I push myself to work hard so my academics come first, but don’t interfere with my performance on the ice. When I’m playing I only focus on the game and my team on the bench, focus is key. I love to try new things in practice so I can perfect them in time for a game. I also love when a drill that we do in practice works in a game. I am very passionate about my defensive work, and have been told by some coaches and forwards that they can rely on me for backup if needed.
I play many other sports including Field Hockey and Lacrosse. My coach says that he loves my work ethic, positive attitude, determination, and love of the game. I really hope that I will be a good addition to a college team and that I can help my team get the “W”.
