My name is Shannon Kincaid and I am 17 years old. I have been playing ice hockey for 11 years. I play for the NJ Colonials Girls 19U Major AAA. I received the Donna Guariglia Achievement Award for my Colonials team for the 2022-2023 season. I also play for my high school boys varsity team and I am the first female hockey player in school history to receive a varsity letter for the boys hockey team. I am an honors student and strive for all A’s to give myself the best possible opportunities in college. I also play high school volleyball, work as a lifeguard and volunteer for Special Olympics and as an Ambulance Corps Cadet. Between school, work, volunteering, club hockey, and high school sports, my schedule is demanding, so I have learned to manage my time well and be very organized. I think this has prepared me to successfully handle the challenge of being a college athlete. Playing hockey in college has always been a goal of mine. Although I played multiple sports, I have always had a passion for being on the ice. I am a team player and enjoy being with my teammates on and off the ice. I pride myself on being a hard worker and easy to coach. I always put forth my best efforts, skating hard and looking to make a play. Learning from my coaches and teammates is important to me to progress mentally and physically as a hockey player. What makes me diffferent from other players is that I am a defensive forward. I am on the PK for both club and high school. Also, playing boys hockey has made me a tough competitor and added to my physical game. I hope to continue to improve and grow my game in college.
