- The Stick Skills camp is a program designed to improve players' puck handling, passing and shooting skills. Skills taught are: Puck Protection, Head-Up, Quick stick, Strong stick, Forehand and Backhand control, Ways to beat an opponent, and proper footwork. Passing skills taught are: Catch and Release, one timers, saucer, bunting, leading the man, and ‘See the Ice’ drills. Shooting skills taught are: Transfer of Weight, wrist snap, and hip turn. Shots taught are: wrist shots, snap shots, backhand shots, flip shots and slap shots. Also emphasized will be the use of a stick in ‘stick puck battles’ and stick control in checking techniques.
