Ice hockey has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Roller blading outside for countless hours took up most of my childhood. My family shares the love of hockey, and it brings us together. I have played organized hockey since I was seven, and it has been one of the biggest parts of my life. Hockey has given me so much, and I want to continue to play as long as I can. Playing college hockey is my ultimate goal and dream.
I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish my goal, and I want to help better whatever team I have the pleasure to be a part of in college. Playing college hockey would truly be one of the most rewarding things that has ever happened to me, because it would prove to me that hard work pays off in the long run. All the long weekends, missed school, sore muscles, and sacrifices made by my family would truly mean something. I want to play college hockey, because it is what I truly love to do.
It takes a different kind of person to play hockey. You have to be willing to go out onto the ice and give your very best, even if it means falling on your butt to make the play, every single game. I understand that hockey is one of the most difficult sports to participate in, which is why I love it. Not everyone can put all the sweaty, stinky gear on, and go skate and play hard for an entire game. I take pride in being a hockey player, on and off the ice. Also, I understand that it takes endless amounts of hard work to get better at this game. I am willing to train and step into uncomfortable situations in order to become a better player, and teammate. As of now, I strength train two times a week, and have team practices 2-3 times a week. I work on my skills, such as stick handling and shooting at home as much as possible. I love to watch and learn from those who are better than me, and try to incorporate what I learn into my game. I try to build my hockey IQ as much as possible by watching games, talking to my coaches, my teammates, and trainers. Besides my love for the game, I also take pride in my academics. I understand that all college athletes are students first. My grades are something I truly focus on, so that I can continue to play hockey. I am determined and focused to reach my goal, and I will work hard in both my academics and athletics to accomplish my goal.
For my college experience, I am open to almost any opportunity. In college, I want to study in exercise science, or nutrition in hopes of becoming an athletic trainer. I love the gym I work out at currently, Marino's Fitness Athletic Performance, and it has inspired me to study the science behind exercise in sports. My main goal is to play for a D1 program, but I am open to D3 as well. Also, I am open to travel to locations near and far from where I currently am in Pennsylvania. I want to play for the team that I feel is right for me, and I am willing to experiment and figure out where I feel most comfortable. All in all, I am truly looking for a hockey program that I can help better, and enjoy for my four years in college.
