I have always had a passion for hockey and have been playing since I was four years old. I grew up in a hockey family and spent most of my childhood growing up at the rink. Since I first stepped on the ice, I have aspired to play on a national level for Team Canada. The sport of female hockey is continuing to grow and I am quickly recognizing there is limited opportunities for female players to keep playing. To have the opportunity to play hockey beyond my minor hockey years would be a dream come true.
I love being at the rink and seize every opportunity to play. I give 110% on and off the ice, whether I am playing for Team Saskatchewan, a regular league game, practice or just studying video. I believe in leading by example and by providing positive encouragement to my teammates. I also believe coaches and officials should always be given the respect they are due. Because of my positive attitude, I have worn a captain or assistant captain letter almost every year I have played. I am eager to learn new things and to improve my skills every day.
I take school very seriously and study hard to achieve the best results I am capable of. I have difficulty with exams which tends to lower my marks. I often feel discouraged that my assessments are not a true representative of my academic capabilities.
I volunteer my time at the rink working with the Swift Current Novice Girls team. I have also been an active participant in our community's annual charity 3-on-3 event to raise money for the survivors of the Humboldt Broncos crash that occurred in 2018. This event has led to incredible opportunities to play with and against very high level athletes, including Zac Smith of the Chicago Blackhawks.
My goal is to attend a post-secondary school that can provide opportunities for me to continue to play hockey as well as achieve my dreams towards becoming a Physiotherapist. I want to ultimately find the best possible match for my skills and capabilities on both an academic and athletic level.
I have a passion for helping people and I want to find a career that allows me to do that and to stay connected to the sport I love.
