Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Haley Knauf. I am a three-time Team Wisconsin Athlete,  2017-2018 and 2018-2019 varsity player for the Rock County Fury girls high school team, and a Monroe Youth Hockey Association player from 2008-2017. I played on the atoms, mite, squirt, peewee, and bantam teams. I played on the A team for each level of my youth hockey career.  These were all played with boys, which I believe was a crucial part of my development. I also played on the U12 and U14 girls teams (double rostered with boys team) at Monroe Youth Hockey Association. In my nine years of playing youth hockey, I was fortunate enough to go to state five times with my youth teams, and three times with Team Wisconsin.  Out of my seven state appearances throughout my hockey career, unfortunately, my teams and I have never won a state title. I feel that in these moments I grew as a hockey player. Each defeat at the state level helped me as a hockey player. It helped me gain determination and drive for the next season. Every defeat I was faced with just made me work harder for it next time.

I have been fortunate enough to be a part of amazing programs, from Team Wisconsin and Fury to Monroe and the U19 Wisconsin Junior Stars, I have learned the value of teamwork, dedication, and character. I am looking for a school to challenge me both athletically and academically. I feel I have the capability to play at the next level and have an impact on your team.
