Personal Statement

First, thank you for taking the time to read my student athlete personal statement.

My name is Ashley Slupe. I am a competitive and hard working 5' 9", 150 lb., left-handed defensemen who also has experience playing center.

I was selected to play with the Tier II Wisconsin Selects my freshman year of high school.  As a team we advanced to the USA Hockey National Tournament in 2022 and 2023 (National Runner-Up 2022). This season (2024) our team won the National Championship and I was voted onto the All-Tournament Team as a Defenseman (2 Goals, 3 Assists, 1 GWG, 2 PIMS at nationals).  During the past three winters, I have played for the CFM Sabers Varsity Hockey Team as a starting defenseman, earning Big Rivers Conference (BRC) Honorable Mention (2023) and voted to 2nd Team BRC this year (2024).  I'm always looking to improve as a student athlete, and have been told I'm very coachable, picking up new concepts/drills/systems fast. I've earned the respect of my fellow classmates and have served them as their Class President, 8th-10th grade. Much of my time and energy is spent towards earning high grades, to be continued at a large to medium sized university in the Midwest or East Coast regions. An undecided major, I have expressed an interest in the health care and nursing fields, but am currently undecided as to a major beyond high school. Ideally, I would like to be a major contributor early in my hockey career and make a positive impact. I can assure you I will bring a smile on my face and work my hardest each day on and off the ice.

Thank you once again and hope to hear from you soon.
