Hi, my name is Emily Rose. I'm a 5’8 150 pound 17 year old Junior at Bullard High school (Fresno Ca.) I am team captain starting midfielder/draw specialist for Bullard High School. We won the Valley Championships last year, I was selected First Team All Valley, and Offensive MVP for the Knights. This summer and upcoming club season I will be playing with the Tenacity Project Elite 2021 team.
I am a very good student and take my education seriously as I have had a 4.0 for most of my scholastic career. I'm not 100% decided on a major yet. I am in the Law tract at school, so it will likely be Law or Criminal Justice, I am also looking at possibly Engineering or possibly Biology. I would best describe myself as an ordinary teenager. I enjoy music, funny movies, and hanging out with friends and family when not doing homework and playing sports. Where I am different is that I grew up for the first years of my life as a Navy brat. My father was in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer for 24 years. I have to say I’m more mature and focused in whatever I accomplish due to the fact my father instilled the Navy core values(honor, courage, and commitment) at a young age.
What does lacrosse mean to me? My first experience with lacrosse was a month long clinic during 3rd grade put on by the Hoover Athletic Director Tim Carey at Hoover High School. From that moment even at a young age I was hooked. I needed more. I was able to go to another small summer camp but that wasn’t enough. My father was able to speak with the Athletic Director Brandon Gilbert at Bullard High School and the lacrosse coach Tamara Francis and they said it was ok for me to go out and practice with the team and help out with whatever the coach needed. I was on the field, I was around the sport, I was able to learn it, and fall in love with it. As the years have gone by and I’ve gotten older I realized that this is and has been a great blessing and experience for me. Most girls in this area do not even touch a stick until they are in 9th grade. Lacrosse has taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and most of all team work. So what does lacrosse mean to me? It's not just a stick. It's not just a ball. It's not just a net. Its sweat, drive, adrenaline, friendships, winning, and losing. For me, it's lacrosse. LAX IS LIFE!
As far as schools and athletic programs are concerned. I'm looking for a good fit athletically as well academically and not necessarily a big name school. There are many Division I, II, III schools that are both academically and athletically challenging. I want the best fit for me. I value the education aspect of being a student athlete as well as the athletic aspect. I welcome the challenges that arise as a three sport athlete to keep my grades at a high level and my performance on the field at a high level. My other sports (soccer and volleyball) help to be a well rounded person and with my passion which is lacrosse.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
