Ever since I began playing competitive club lacrosse when I was 12 years old, it has been an aspiration of mine to attend a high level academic institution while having the opportunity to play lacrosse at the highest level. Lacrosse is a sport that has enriched my life both through the lessons I've learned, as well as through the people I've had the opportunity to meet-coaches, teammates, competitors- all of whom have impacted my life.
When it comes to lacrosse, along with other sports, I always aim to have a team first mentality. I realize the importance of teamwork when it comes to being successful and my favorite plays are the ones in which multiple people contribute, such as an assisted goal or a caused turnover or a clear to the other end of the field. I also understand that there are many little things that help a team function that are beyond the obvious, like cutting through so your teammate can dodge or riding the ball all the way to the opposite restraining line. I believe that it is a team's ability and willingness to put all these little things together that will lead them to success. As a coach of mine once put it "Take care of the little things and the big things will come together."
In addition to lacrosse, my academics are also something I take very seriously. Because of this I always aim to balance sports and academics, which can be a challenge, but a challenge that I am up for. I have found that I perform better on the field and in the classroom when I have the opportunity to pursue both my interest in lacrosse and in academics to the fullest. This is a major factor in my goal to pursue collegiate lacrosse at the highest level. I believe it will be a challenge that will allow me to push myself to be the best version of myself that I can be.
