From an early age athletics have always been a big part of my life. Sports have helped to shape me into the person I am today. Athletics provide an outlet for my competitive spirit, keep me disciplined and healthy, increase my leadership skills and are just plain fun. Being a varsity starter in lacrosse, basketball and soccer from freshman year forward made me learn quickly how to balance academics and more competitive athletics. As a freshman I learned how to perform in very competitive situations like league championships and state playoffs playing with more seasoned players. I’m proud of my individual awards, but I’m even more proud of what my teams have accomplished together. I am now Captain of the varsity soccer team as a sophomore which has helped me develop leadership skills at a younger age. I try to lead by example working hard at every practice, training session, scrimmage and game. I do my best to be a leader on and off the field and I’m vocal about wanting my teammates to be successful. My teammates’ energy fuels me and I believe they look to me for motivation and encouragement.
I know these lessons and experiences academics and varsity sports will transfer over to my college aspirations.I want to attend a school that has a family-like aspect as having a close bond with my teammates is important to me. I’m looking for an environment where I can succeed academically and athletically.Throughout high school almost every quarter I have reached honor roll while playing three sports.Choosing to play three sports all through highschool has led me to become great at time management. I can manage my time well, between extracurriculars and academics. I allow for plenty of time for me to do my school work on top of training for sports.I feel as if this is an important skill for a college student-athlete. I plan on joining the national honors society my junior year and keep challenging myself as an athlete and a student.
