My name is Grace Michaud. I am a sophomore at Cromwell High School. I started playing lacrosse as a freshman, which was the first girls lacrosse team at Cromwell. We never had a youth team in our town and I was never exposed to lacrosse (besides watching on tv) until I met other girls from different towns who played the sport. I took advantage of this team freshman year to try something new, and I believed that I could work to be good at it. Majority of our team were new to playing. We all had our weaknesses in the beginning of the season, and it was tough to get used to. I used my weaknesses to make myself stronger and set my own goals. By the end of my first season I had introduced myself to a new bond that I has grown stronger and stronger.
My freshman year I worked hard to make sure I had a solid standpoint with grades. I continued to try my hardest to keep that backbone. I went through hardships and setbacks with sports and other events that affected my learning process but I am always up for a challenge to do better like I am doing this year.
I know that Senior year is what seems to be a long way away, but I have such a strong passion for this sport I believe it is important to involve myself now. I have played sports all my life and I have experienced my ups and downs but lacrosse is something I strive to do my best in no matter what.
In college I want to be part of a team that I can work with and create a strong bond. I grew up watching college lacrosse and I have always enjoyed seeing the girls on the team work as one. I believe with my personality and mindset I make a good asset to a team. I always work to better myself and to push others if they seem to be struggling. I aspire to make those around me feel good about themselves and grow into the athlete and person they strive to be. I keep enough time to focus on academics while balancing athletics and other extra-curricular activities.
