As the social media manager for DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), I am interested in several areas of business, sports communications, and sports media.
Business entrepreneurship is appealing because I am comfortable taking the initiative on projects, collaborating with peers, and delegating to those with more expertise. I also like the idea of being my boss. Working at my school's bookstore, I often was on my own and thus responsible for sales, inventory, and the cash drawer balance at the end of my shifts.
Marketing is another avenue of interest. I am creative and enjoy trying to persuade others to buy into ideas and items.
Sports communication and sports media also are strong possibilities. I enjoy helping people and conversing with others, and I have strong oral and written communication skills. I love playing field hockey, lacrosse, and hockey and watching pro hockey, baseball, and football. I believe my passion for sports, written and oral skills, and interest in getting to know athletes are a good match.

There is a lot of pressure and a ton to learn and remember in my high-school sports (lacrosse and field hockey). I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed as a freshman and sophomore, so as an upperclassman, I try to help my teammates as much as I can. Sometimes, that means sharing what I have learned. Other times, it is allowing them to vent or giving them a shoulder to cry on. I believe that team sports need players who think about and do what is best for the team. I am receptive to coaches' suggestions and often seek feedback on my play, whether it's technique, positioning, strategy, etc.

No matter the circumstance,. I always try my hardest to support my teammates by working hard in practice and giving 110 percent in games. I was raised to support my teammates, not tear them down for my own gain. I believe that building up others and never giving up are keys to success. Same for academics. When I don't understand something, I meet with my teachers during their office hours for extra help, sometimes more than once on the same concept. When doing group projects, I am eager to get going and work with others to develop ideas and problem solve.
