Hello, my name is Avery Winters. I am a captain of my indoor and outdoor track and field teams. I can be described as a leader, determined athlete, and a supportive teammate. I’m a very disciplined mid-distance runner. I run the 400m and 200m races. I initially began running track in middle school to improve my strength and endurance for my intense soccer team and to stay in shape out of season. However, by the end of my first meet I knew I had found a new sport. I ran track all through high school, earning 3 individual school records and being a member of 3 relay records as well. Unfortunately, my junior year track season for indoor was cancelled, but that did not stop me from continuing my training. I attended crossfit sessions and made sure to get on the track. I ended my junior year track season in Oregon, at Nationals, competing in the 4 x 1 relay.
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to continue my running career at the collegiate level!
