Personal Statement

There are many talented high school athletes. There are many intelligent high school students. There are many motivated people who want to be successful in life.  There is only one Dakota Riggio.

I envision going to a college that will push me athletically, educationally, and mentally. Lacrosse is so much more than a sport, and sports are essential to being successful in life. I learned early on that nothing is achieved without hard work, and that tough and challenging moments build one’s character and pave the way for success.

I was born in New York City and raised on the North Shore of Long Island.  I began my lacrosse career in the Mt. Sinai High School PAL program while in 3rd grade.  In the summer of 2018 I moved to South Florida and began attending the American Heritage School, Delray Beach campus, as an 8th grader.

I have intentionally taken a rigorous academic class schedule that requires me to study multiple hours a day, while also practicing lacrosse and strength training.  I am choosing not to be average.  I want to be successful in life, and that includes sports, my occupation, my family and my friends.  None of this will be easy, because if it was, everyone would do it.

Choosing me to be a part of your lacrosse program and your college is a win for both of us.  You will be helping to educate me, shape my future, and make me a dominant lacrosse player and teammate during some of the most critical years of my life; and I will be helping us build and lead a team of young women who together will win a championship for our school.  I look forward to it.
