Marisa Carroll '12 Recruiting Profile

For years I have played many sports and thought basketball was going to be the one for me. But over the past 2 years I have found something I was not expecting and want to pursue: Lacrosse. I believe that all these years of playing sports, ranging from softball, tennis, baseball, football, swim, soccer and yes basketball has prepared me for this. The reason is because of two things, 1) Iâ¿¿m really good with a stick, basketball has prepared me well for this. 2) Coach Mac and the coaching staff at South River HS. They are great and inspire me to be great. Coach Mac saw me playing basketball last year and asked me to try out for lacrosse. She said she could teach me stick skills, but can not teach someone how to be aggressive or have the desire to win. She said I had that. I used to play catch with my friends and actually played one season when I was 7, but was into other things at the time. I made the JV team and played 1st string. The JV team beat Severna Park for the first in like 10 plus years. That was awesome. That was the beginning of my love for lacrosse. For my sophomore year, I made varsity. I did not play first string, but contributed to the success of the team. We won State Championship in the 4A/3A Division. I will never forget my sophomore year. My goal now is to prepare for the spring 2011 season. I have a lot of work to do to be ready. I have great hand eye coordination combined with quick speed and drive. Coach Mac believes in me and that I will be that player all colleges seek out and want, and with hard work and determination, I will be. She tells me I have it and they will want it. I am a great player in the making and will be better and ready to play 1st string next spring. I am playing for CCLAX 2012 Red team this summer and getting plenty of play time. I will be ready for fall tournaments and future colleges. I strive to be the best and want to be apart of a team that has a great coaching staff, great players and have fun playing.
