There wasn’t a specific moment when I decided that playing lacrosse in college was my goal. It was more of a gradual thing. I found a passion for the game and worked hard to be the best I could be. I wasn’t always the best, and I wasn’t always a starter, but I took all of those experiences and turned them into learning opportunities. Now, I have come to realize that being a lacrosse player has been an integral part of helping me become the complete person that I strive to be every day, as a student athlete.
As a student athlete, I feel that it is important to make a difference both on and off the field. Being a positive role model for other student athletes is a priority of mine. One way I do that is to participate in a number of opportunities in my school and community. I am a member of the student council, a PAL (Peer Assistance and Leadership), a LINK, a leader of the student communication group, and I am a math tutor. I have also been voted team captain in multiple sports by my peers. I believe one of my biggest strengths is that I am able to relate to and help people on a daily basis. It is important to me to be able to make a difference in the lives of others in any capacity where there is a need. In addition to being a leader in school and in sports, I also like to use my spare time volunteering to work at kids camps and helping others become successful in their interests.
Another way that I work to make a difference is to challenge myself to excel in the academic field. I currently hold a 4.0 GPA and am 1.5 years ahead in my math curriculum. In addition to that, I am a member of BPA (Business Professionals of America). My BPA team placed 3rd in the state of Michigan last spring and we are preparing to compete again in January, 2020. All of these characteristics contribute to my success, not only as a strong lacrosse competitor, but also as a confident student athlete.Statistic | 2021 Varsity Team |
