I have always worked hard and dedicated myself to the things that matter most in my life. My family, education, desire to help others, and success in athletics have been my primary focus for as long as I can remember. My parents always stressed the importance of education and have never accepted anything less than my best effort. From my family, I also saw the impact of helping others and learned that very few things are worth achieving if a person has to celebrate them alone or leave others behind in the process. Furthermore, my parents instilled a strong sense of integrity in me, and I now realize that this has served me well in lacrosse which began for me when I was seven and asked my parents if I could play. Essentially, there were no girls programs in our area so, if I wanted to play, I had to do it on a boys’ lacrosse team. Therefore, beginning in the third grade until I was a freshman in high school, I played boys lacrosse on club and travel teams, and I was in the starting lineup of every single game. I did eventually switch over and play girls lacrosse, and it was then that I realized the two games really weren’t all that different; the creativity of the game and sense of community that only lacrosse can offer was still the same, and both sports still gave me new experiences, perspectives, and lifelong friends. Because of this, my future goal is to play collegiate lacrosse because I want to continue to grow personally and challenge myself while not losing focus on the things in my life that truly matter such as family, education, community service, and athletic success; I believe that playing lacrosse at the next level would definitely allow me to still do just that.
