For me, lacrosse started in 3rd grade as a way to meet people as I started at a new school, and I played 6 years of youth lacrosse. This year, I started the high school season on JV, which did not sit well will me, so I pushed myself to work harder and harder in order to get moved to varsity. Halfway through my freshman year, I earned the right to play varsity and the last quarter of the season, I became a starter on the varsity team. With 5 goals, 1 assist, 6 ground ball recoveries, & 4/5 draw controls, I felt good about my contribution to the team.
In 2017, I did some volunteer coaching for the youth girls lacrosse program, and this year coached the 8u team. My favorite part of coaching is teaching basic stick skills and being a good example for the girls.
Tennis is the other sport I play; in my freshman year, playing first doubles, I won the conference doubles title, along with all-conference honors. Tennis is a year-round sport for me, training and competing in USTA tournaments in singles and doubles. This year, I competed in Quiz Bowl at the high school level and earned a varsity letter. My classmates elected me to the student senate for the 2018-19 school year.
Science, in particular, applied physics, and history are my academic interests. This winter (2018), I started a SciMent research project in extraterrestrial radiation in the hopes of doing well enough at the state science fair to move to national competition. In spare time, I volunteer at church & my tennis club as a line judge for 10u tournaments, and I am working on obtaining my private pilot's license.
