Beginning to play lacrosse in the 5th grade, quickly accumulating the efficiency needed to be a valuable player of the game and to understand the physical and mental skill sets happened fairly quickly. Playing on the recreational team for my town for those four years before entering into the highschool were times I like to look back on, my coaches spent valuable hours helping me and shaping me into an athlete of the game, always giving me opportunities and allowing me to play up to gain more knowledge before highschool came.
Sophomore year, was my 1st time being a varsity player at my highly competitive high school. We went on to beat the #1 team in the state and that was when I realized any group of teammates who can come together and more importantly work together can make the impossible happen. That year we went on to win the Somerset County Championship but later fell short during the state games. Despite my sophomore year, junior year was a time I really got to show my potential. After a fellow teammate had gone down, tearing an ACL, I got the opportunity to show my true skill sets and step up in those crucial games. While stepping up, I really got to learn a lot and it helped me grow as an athlete of the game, and build my character on the field. Even though I have played lacrosse for 7 years, this was the first time I knew I had to play for someone and step up in the time of need. As a team we came together and made sure we gave it 100% because that's what our teammate would always give and want. I made it an important factor that I wasn't going to stop the flow of the team, but better yet, help and improve the team making us successful.
This past year, my team and I went on to define the odds and push further and take home various trophies. The program won, North 2 Group 4 Sectional, Somerset County Champions, and Skyland Conference- Delaware. With this team I learned the true meaning of teamwork, communication, collaboration, and accountability. With teamwork we always have to work with each other because one person cannot run the entire game themselves, as well as communication and collaboration, we all have to agree and be on the same page working together. And lastly, for accountability, when you make a mistake, fix it, don't blame it on everyone else, take initiative. With that hope, we went on beating teams that people believed would be "close games." Learning a lot the past two years on my programs varsity team, I believe that I too can achieve the most, and have the potential to raise the bar and compete at the college level. I know that I have what it takes to make an impact on your program and be a crucial part to your team! With my driven hard work on and off the field, and my confidence to never let any one loss or win define you as a team, I believe I have the ability and skill sets to make a swift impact on any program.
