My name is Molly Dixson and I am a sophomore at Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania just south of Pittsburgh. I have been playing school lacrosse for five (5) years and club lacrosse for one (1) year. I am the goalie for my 2020 Intrepid team and on my school team. I have many goals on the lacrosse field and in the class room. My main goal for school is to be on the honor roll every quarter this year. This goal will also carry on into college. My lacrosse goals are to always stay positive during the game and to never let my team down on themselves during a bad game. Being a goalie, my personal goal is to never get let getting scored on hurt my confidence and know that I can always learn from my mistakes. I believe that I can always achieve these goals because of my strong support system that I have at home and in school. When I was in 6th grade, I moved away from a small town near Indiana Pennsylvania. This was very difficult for me because I went from having a starting position on the basketball and softball teams to sitting on the bench pretty much the entire season. It wasn't until my school started a lacrosse team that I found my true place on a team. I believe that this made me a stronger player because I know there will always be someone better than myself but I will stride to be the best I can possibly be.
The highlight of my lacrosse career this far is playing in the Presidents Cup this past November in Orlando Florida. I was on my Intrepid Open team and at this tournament we won one out of three games. During our winning game, I made a winning save that preserved our winning spot and I will never forget that feeling. This was my best highlight because I truly felt like I did something to better my team and also proved to myself that I can play against better teams. I learned so much playing against and watching the other teams from across the country and it was a wonderful experience.
Depending which college I choose to attend, I hope that I can show leadership and confidence on and off the field. I also hope that the team I join will become my second family because I believe that the importance of having a strong bond will help us all be successful.
