Hi, my name's Katie. I'm going into my junior year at Kennard Dale High School in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. I have a 3.75 GPA. I was on distinguished honor roll all of freshman year and honor roll my sophomore year. I have been playing basketball and lacrosse since third grade.
Even though lacrosse is my strong sport, I still enjoy playing basketball. I like being a part of the team and it keeps me in shape. Freshman year, I was a starter for my JV High school Lacrosse team and I was asked to go with Varsity to Counties and Districts. Sophomore year I was strictly Varsity. I have also played the past four seasons for the York Invaders Club team.
As a defender in lacrosse, I take the role of leader for my team by talking and letting others around me know where slides are coming from, as well as any open girls. When I have the ball, I do very well at changing speeds and "putting the wheels on". I am able to get up the field quickly and look for opportunities to pass to others so they can score. I feel as if I am a team player, on and off the field.
The 2014 summer season a teammate pulled her ACL and I was asked to play attack. It was a great experience and I feel as though it has made me a stronger and well-rounded player. Playing this position for the summer season will help my defense as I will understand the terms and actions of the attackers on the opposing team.
I would like to attend college and major in exercise physiology . While attending college, I want to play lacrosse. After college, I would like to continue participating in basketball/lacrosse by coaching for middle or high school girls programs. I know I will always have a love for the game, with or without a lacrosse stick in my hand.
