My name is Mackenzie Sweeney and I am a rising senior at South Kingstown High School in Wakefield, Rhode Island. I have grown up in a lacrosse family where my brother graduated with his MBA from Wagner College, while competing in a Division 1 lacrosse program. My cousin graduated from Steven's College and was a Division 3 Lacrosse player. I have been playing lacrosse for thirteen years and I enjoy the game more each season. My preferred position is defense, but as my senior year approaches my coach has asked me to consider moving to midfield. I am up for the challenge and I am excited to try new positions, even if it may be out of my comfort zone. I would like to continue my athletic career in college because it is important to me to be a part of a team and to push myself to my fullest potential. I was a starting division one athlete during a covid year, which was extremely challenging. I was able to push myself and my teammates under difficult circumstances to reach our fullest potential. I would like to major in Global Studies or International Business. This major will allow me the opportunity to travel and learn about cultures around the world and explore new ideas and ways of thinking. Upon receiving my degree, I will have a wide range of career choices in our rapidly changing world. I currently have a 3.57 GPA and participate in many extracurricular activities at my high school such as French Club, Spanish Club, Girl Scouts, Sailing Club and Concert Choir. I feel that I would be an asset to any team that I play on because of my communication skills, determination and persererance .
