My name is Kayla Calderon. I am 5”2’, 135 lbs and I started playing lacrosse my junior year right after Cross Country season ended when my fastest mile time was 7 minutes and 30 seconds. As an athlete and a scholar I try my hardest in everything and anything that I do, there is no almost. I take criticism hard but I never ignore it. I take praise with the largest of confidence, but I never stoop to being boastful. And school always comes first.
I am a part of the International Baccalaureate Program. My class rank is in the top 10% and I steadily hold a 3.5 GPA. I try my hardest to balance sports, school, and work excelling to the best of my abilities in each one. I also enjoy volunteering to help my community and my school.
I am very strict to myself about being on time to a practice, a game, or a meeting; an important quote I retell myself everyday comes from the movie Coach Carter (2005), he told his athletes “if you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. And if you’re late, don’t bother showing up at all.” I take the heat and I push myself just as much as the coaches push me.
I would like to go to college to become a Pediatric Physical Therapist because of my adoration of children. I would prefer to go to school in the south eastern part of America. My dream is to attend Stanford University and live in my home state of California, however, I am very open minded in attending any college. Because my family is in financial need these dreams are in reality quite difficult to accomplish. I aspire to play on a college level for lacrosse to continue to learn more about the sport and acquaint myself with probable friends who are just like me.
