Moving to new places is always hard, for me personally it was more than just life altering. I moved from Randburg, South Africa to where I am now, Bellevue, Washington. It was terrifying, I had no friends and I had left most of my family behind. I had to give up everything including my sport, that had been with me from the time I was 7 to in that moment,12 years old. There was no field hockey anywhere in the state of Washington, that was that. Until, I found lacrosse, or my mom found it. It wasn't exactly hockey but, it was close enough and it was exciting.
Lacrosse had brought me home in ways middle school took me farther from it. It brought me a sense of familiarity in a world that was not my own, it taught me that no matter how far you are away from home, there's always something that can bring it back to you. There's always something that can get your blood pumping. Lacrosse had brought back a lot for me and it helped and helps me strive to go further in life. To further try for that close to 4.0 G.P.A. for the end of high school, to strive to be challenged by the courses I take and the new adventures I find myself in. To strive to be a varsity player, even to find a college that'll be right for me. To find somewhere that'll challenge and stretch my ever changing world even further.
That is what I strive for in the future, to be someone that is ready to take on a new adventure in the form of a college team and hopefully further advance their team through team spirit, perseverance, and hard work. I don't know if I'll be ready by the end of highschool but, I do know that I'll try harder than ever to be the right player for the team that is right for me.
