When I was about 10 years old I knew that I wanted to be a college athlete, not just because I love sports, but because I always found myself wanting to do some type of physical activity, whether doing yard work, going to the pool for a second workout that day, or going to the gym. I have always had a strong work ethic, learned from my Dad who grew up on a farm. I've come to realize that college athletics are something that I strongly want to pursue.
I began year round competitive swimming when I was eight. I learned the value of teamwork in events like relays. However, when I was 15 years old, the realization of being able to swim at the division 1 level began to slip from me. I found myself lacking the times I needed to make swimming at the highest level of college athletics possible. That's when Crew came into the picture. I was made aware of this great sport and everyday that I have pursued rowing I began to realize that this was the sport for me. I found myself on YouTube watching the women's eight take first place at the Rio Olympic Games and I knew I wanted to be there, competing in a sport I have come to love. I love working with others in my rowing club to successfully navigate the course, whether in duals, quads, or eights. My desire is to join a college rowing program where I can utilize my strong work ethic and teamwork skills to help the program achieve its goals, all the while gaining a solid educational experience in the field of kinesiology.
