Finding rowing has been the best thing I've ever done for myself.
This last year as a novice rower, I've been able to become more than I had thought I could be; every day I worked to create a culture of bettering myself. Athletics as a challenge builds me into the person I want to be. Each practice is an opportunity for me to show myself that I can still have higher standards, and that there is always more to motion and momentum.
My character doesn't let me slow down. I want to go into things running and not stop. I went into rowing on a risk, not knowing if I would find my place there, but I found that I loved being on the team, and having the choice to and influence to better others around me.
If I am on a team, I am part of it. My growth is competitive with my peers.
And, so to not lose this momentum that I've found in rowing, I want to continue my sport into college, because I know that I'm not done improving, I'm not done pushing my standards, and I'm not done chasing my own excellence.
