2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
My name is Grace Torchiana, I’m a student athlete, and I started rowing in July 2021. I started as a novice, but after our first scrimmage on 10/30 I was selected to row with the varsity team. Before rowing, I played basketball for over 5 years. I took my athleticism and hard work ethic from basketball and I am now applying it into my goals of becoming a collegiate rower. Rowing has quickly become such a huge part of my life and I fell in love with the sport. I’m so excited to watch myself and my teammates grow together. On top of my athletics, school is a main priority for me. I’m currently maintaining a high GPA and many extracurriculars. I participate actively in my community through charity with my mom and we’ve been in the program for 4 years so far. I’m grateful for being given the opportunity to row and work towards rowing in college. Thank you!
