  • ActivitiesNovato Unified School District: Student Board Member (representative for San Marin) 2023-2024 Member of several clubs: Biotech, Women in San Marin, Women in Science, Women in leadership, Baking Club,Founder and President of OD Free San Marin (Club in Wellness Community). Opioid overdose awareness and prevention. Narcan education. Featured in School Newspaper. Various college courses/general education completed concurrently in High School: three years of Spanish through Lake Tahoe Community College (15 college credits)- all foreign language requirements were completed Freshman year. Sociology 101, Psychology 101, History of Rock Music, Ethnic Studies, Contemporary Moral Issues, JLAC (Junior Legislation Advisory Committee): One of three students in Marin County selected to attend a day trip to the Capitol in Sacramento to meet with legislators and government officials involved in education decisions and policies. Was able to share insights and feedback to legislators of school and student needs (Feb 2024), Summer Springboard: Biotechnology (UC San Diego Campus) (July 2023) Pre-College summer program: 2 week Biotechnology course studying the process of bacterial transformation, protein expression and purification. This included hands on lab techniques such as pipetting, gel electrophoresis, sterile techniques, spectrophotometry, centrifugation and protein melting temperature measurements Lab work included the purification of a protein that is actively being studied by cancer researchers. Also learned about pharmaceutical drug discovery processes Interacted and learned from biotech scientists from different biotech start-up companies such as Ultima Genomics and Biotech and Beyond. Marin Juniors: Volleyball Summer Camp program assistant (summer 2023)Coach and mentor for girls summer volleyball camp. Ran drills, taught technique, rules of the game, serve receive, passing, hitting, position and skill training Babysitting Provided child care on as needed basis to multiple children from around our community Planned fun activities and games, prepared meals, clean up responsibilities Ongoing Math tutor for students in grades K- 10,Organized an agenda for clients that allowed for new specialized skills for students to adapt to.Consistent tutoring for those who are struggling with Math, English and Science comprehension resulted in improved grades for these students Based tutoring sessions on prior knowledge that would allow for different methods to solve problems ,Referee 4-8th grade volleyball games Referee for multiple CYO games on the weekends Organized the gym and made sure it was all tidy.Executed the rules and made sure everyone followed them Link Crew Team Member (Fall 2023) Group leader for new freshman orientation. Preparation with 12 hours of program training the weekend before and 8 hours the day of. Responsibilities included welcome introductions, preparing fun games and ice breakers for the freshman, touring the school, answering questions and getting them well prepared for their first few days. Volleyball Coach Volunteer: CYO volleyball coach for Our Lady of Loretto Novato, CA for 8th grade girls (2022) Marin Juniors Volley-start program: fill in coach for 2nd-8th grade girls (2023) Volunteered at a Food Bank/Charity Donation (December 2020-February 2021) Distributed food to people in need. Greeted people when they drove by. Coordinated the flow of food and cars coming through. National Society of High School Scholars: a distinguished academic honor society, committed to recognizing and serving the highest-achieving student scholars in more than 26,000 high schools across 170 countries. Criteria for membership is based on academic performance and is the highest among national high school honors programs California Scholarship Federation Club: CSF is a statewide organization that was started in order to recognize outstanding high school students Orthopedic Surgery Shadowing: time spent with high volume total joint surgeon in Fremont, CA. Observed multiple total knee replacement surgeries in the operating room. Engaged with the OR team to learn roles and responsibilities: Orthopedic Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Physician Assistant, circulator nurse, scrub tech and device representatives. Key take-away: confirmed interest in goal of becoming a surgeon. Outreach to middle school students to educate them on the opportunities within the STEM program at San Marin.Prepared a long yet informative PowerPoint presentation to show to interested students in large group setting Effectively answered questions from the students and teachers about the program
