After being a competitive softball player for 9 years, I decided to try something new and joined my high school crew team. I went to my first trial week on the team, and to my surprise, I was hooked. My freshman year I became the novice team captain and won the MVP award. Also, I was the only freshman that made it into the varsity boats. I went to scholastic Nationals in the varsity quad where we won 6th place in the nation.
I have worked my entire life to be a strong athlete and love competing, but nothing has ever compared to the passion and drive that I have for rowing. I left my high school team after deciding I wanted to achieve more at a higher level. I joined San Diego Rowing Club and have become much stronger despite the challenges rowing has to offer. After my first year at my new club, I achieved a 2K PR that is 14 seconds faster than the year before.
I can’t wait to be a part of an amazing college team, giving 110% on every row, workout, or crew-related activity. I'm looking for a college to provide a rigorous challenge of academics and athletics. My goal is to continue growing as a strong crew member and teammate at the college of my dreams. Ultimately, I want to be on the National and Olympic team, which I know I will obtain through hard work and dedication fueled by my passion for the sport.
