Although I have never rowed before, I am eager to learn a new sport and am very resilient. I am one of the most coachable and hard working recruits you will find. My background in swimming, running, and weightlifting, would be great assets to learning how to row. My diverse athletic background and drive to learn how to row will make me a great athlete. After the pandemic, I decided to try club lacrosse in college. My work ethic and curiosity helped me grow and made it easier to learn lacrosse, so I have no doubt that I could learn how to be a great rower with practice and hard work too.
During my freshman year I did online classes because of the pandemic. While doing online school my schedule was flexible, so I often took the morning shifts at my part time job at Starbucks. These morning shifts sometimes started at 5 am or earlier, so I know I will have no trouble getting to morning practices as a rower. I can ensure that I am a time sensitive recruit.
My sophomore year of college post-pandemic, I transferred to Arizona State and was eager to get back into sports and try something new. I joined ASU's club lacrosse team without experience. I really enjoyed learning lacrosse, but I tore my acl, so I was done playing for most of the season. After recovery I wanted to give lacrosse another shot, so I joined a summer league through ULAX Denver. Despite being injured, I was still eager to learn lacrosse. My drive to learn new sports will be an asset when learning how to row. I know that I will persevere through hard practices and am an extremely resilient recruit.
I want to learn a new sport and compete at the college level, so I think rowing will be a great opportunity. Despite transferring schools due to the covid-19 pandemic and my acl injury, I have continued to hold a 3.5+ GPA, currently at a 3.617 GPA in college. While in high school, I held a 3.72 GPA while participating in sports and working a part time job. Transferring schools and pushing through injuries has taught me how to remain flexible and overcome challenges, but I am looking for a school I can stay at long term for my last year or two of undergraduate school. I am looking for a community and a school were I can thrive athletically and academically, and I know Rowing on a collegiate team will be a great way to pursue those goals.
