This summer I participated in a 2-week rowing camp with the St. Louis Rowing Club. This was my first rowing experience. I sat in the stroke seat most of the time. The Head Coach tried to recruit me to move to St. Louis and join his club :) But also encouraged me to use him as a reference.
I come from an athletic family, with a mindset of an athlete at the forefront. Mom (DI Volleyball), Dad (DII Football), Sister (currently Rows at the University of Kansas). Personally, I've been a multi-sport athlete for as long as I can remember. Volleyball (high school and club), Lacrosse (high school), Track (high school), Ice Hockey (club), Alpine Skiing (not competitively, but I've been skiing since I was 3).
Fun Fact: This is my 4th year as a hockey ref…I began playing hockey when I was 10 or so and took a reffing course with a friend of mine. She has since moved away, making me the only girl ref in all of Routt County! I get to meet a lot of interesting people when I ref. I most enjoy the coaches of pee-wee games – they try to keep things fun. I remember one coach wearing a full tux, just because he wanted the kids to relax and smile! Most of the games I reff are great experiences and have certainly taught me how to interact with adults of all ages in all types of situations!
