Hi! I’m Alex, and I started rowing in the 2023 spring season at the Taft School in CT. We race in a four, and as the only sophomore rower on the girl's varsity first boat, this season is proving to be both challenging and rewarding. Between our preseason in Florida, our daily practices on Bantam Lake, and our races up and down the East Coast, rowing continues to help me develop a strong sense of grit and determination.
Over the last two years, I have developed both a love and a deep appreciation for crew. Practices are grueling but rewarding. You get out what you put in. And nothing feels better than the synchronizing click of the oarlocks while gliding through the water efficiently in a race. Most importantly, my teammates have become some of my best friends.
Some recent highlights include:
2024: Winning both our first heat, and the grand final in the G1V Founders Day Regatta
2024: Winning the du Pont Cup Regatta in G1V.
2023: Winning G2V petite finals at NEIRA.
