In the Fall seasons, I row for Old Dominion Boat Club in the openweight first varsity boat. I also made the first varsity boat in 2018 as a sophomore. In the Fall of 2018, our boat finished 27/85 at the Head of the Charles. In the Fall of 2019 I made the first varsity boat again and our best race was the Head of the Schuylkill where we placed 4/42.
While I know many qualified rowers are contacting you, what sets me apart is the extra efforts I’ve had to make to be competitive in the sport given that my high school doesn’t have a team. I am unable to row for ODBC in the winter and spring because it becomes a scholastic program for a school I do not attend. As a result, I have had to seek out programs in both the winter and spring to find the most competitive option available. In spring 2019, I was selected by Capital Rowing Club to row in a double in the Mid Atlantic Youth Rowing Championship. My partner and I only practiced together four times and raced together once, yet still made it though the time trials to semi finals. I will compete for Capital Rowing Club again in Spring 2020.
In terms of erg scores, I achieved a new personal record in the 5k in fall 2019 with a time of 20:00. My best 2k test is a 7:39.
I am a rising senior at Maret School in Washington, DC. While my high school does not have a crew program, it is highly competitive academically. I take an advanced course of study and my GPA currently is 3.53. My grades in my junior year were my best yet. I posted a 3.67 for my junior year.
I look forward to providing additional information. I greatly appreciate your consideration of me as a potential member of your crew for the fall of 2021.
