Personal Statement

Hello! My Name is Lexi Sanchez, and I have been rowing for a little over 2 years now! I fell in love with the sport after 6 years of competitive swimming. Rowing has had a very positive impact on my life in these last few years, and I cant imagine what my life would have been like if I didn't start this incredible sport. I just have such a passion for rowing, and it would be an honor to continue pursuing that passion in college. I have learned how to really cooperate with others on a level exceeding simple school projects. To be able to work together on such a deep level, and put your trust in the others around you to preform to the best of their ability is what I live for. I love working together with others, I am just a really big people person! I love getting better at what I do, I live for the moment that I drop even a single split off of my 2k time and I know that I need to listen to my coaches and put in the extra work in order for that to happen. Whether it is a single, pair, four, quad, eight, etc. I always love putting 110% of my effort into that boat. And I can not wait to see how far my rowing career will take me.

High Performance Racing Camp

This High Performance Camp is designed to provide the high school rowers and coxswains with a comprehensive summer training program. Athletes will be provided with land and water training, video review, nutrition, conditioning, and race preparation. This camp will be a challenging experience, the camp will include racing and instruction in small boats (1x, 2x and 2-) as well as "big" boats (4x, 4+ and 8+)

Girls Junior 1x- made it to grand finals in first season racing a single, 6th out of a total of 14 boats.

Women's Jr 1x- 7:01.87. came in 3rd place with a bronze medal (There were no indicators on the water, so I didn't start the sprint untill 100 meters after I realized I passed 300m)

Women's Youth 1x: 2nd in petites, First day of racing I was put into a very old and terrible boat. Got blown into the docks and shore because of the strong winds and the boat doesn’t have moving shoes so I could only get 3/4 of a stroke at best. Got last on Saturday. Showed up the next day not expecting to race, got told I was racing in 30 minutes, hopped in another boat that wasn’t awful. And gave the race all I got. Came in 8th overall out of 17 boats. Not to mention this was just 2 weeks after I came back to practice after being out for a month with bronchitis.
