I joined Miami Beach Summer Camp Rowing Program in the summer before 9th grade, and I instantly fell in love. I get to implement my competitiveness daily and think technically and strategically. The reason I love rowing so much is because it has taught me to always try to improve myself, not only for me but for the boat. In addition, I get to build lifelong friendships with girls with the same goals as me.
Rowing has taught me to persevere, think ahead, communicate, and ask for help. I love the nerves and excitement before an erg test or race and how proud I feel when I PR or wanting to keep trying until I surpass my expectations after I take that last stroke. After I graduate high school, I wouldn’t want to stop rowing. I want to row in college and be able to reach my full athletic potential while also creating new bonds and learning life lessons. I love rowing and wouldn’t want to give it up so soon.
