After years of ballet, I had many years of discipline, great posture and working out...indoors. When 2020 brought many challenges to the world, for me, it was the beginning of my love and passion for rowing. My workout while social distancing and outside was on a single skull in the ocean. I was hooked. Last year I stroked the 1V8 for my high school team and was very proud to bring home the State Championship. What a thrill that season was. There is great camaraderie between my team and we are like a nice, big, happy family. I enjoy rowing very much but know I have much to learn so I am constantly working on improving my skills. I strive to be the best athlete and teammate I can be, so I consistently ask for feedback from my coach. It's important for me to also ask for help and give support and encouragement to my teammates on a regular basis.
Off the water, I actually do enjoy school. I enjoy my classes and I also strive to be a leader in extra curricular activities. I regularly participate in class activities and represent my class for Student Council. I've also been selected to the Student Advisory Council where I regularly meet with the Superintendent of the school as a student liaison to help find solutions and better ways to run the school. In the summer, I work and volunteer for a local non-profit boating school that helps gets local children and inner-city youth as well as veterans exposed to the water. I seem to always find my happiest moments on the water.
I'd love to attend a college where I can continue to enjoy my passion for rowing and being on the water while being exposed to the best educational opportunities. I am happy to begin this next phase of my life and excited to learn more. I am very grateful to have an amazing support system.
