My first season of rowing, was an unforgettable experience that I can’t wait to have again. Because of my first year, I began training in November with a few of my teammates to improve ourselves as much as we could before the season. As we got silver last year at our selective regatta as novice in a junior category, we were very excited to go back. Due to Coronavirus, we were not able to have that opportunity but together we are now taking the opportunity to grow our relationships with each other. I love how much rowing brings the people in the boat together. A truly good boat requires a massive amount of teamwork and that is such a cool thing to me. The reason why I decided to try rowing was my friends suggested it and I wanted a break for swimming. The reason why I stayed was because of the teamwork, and how great of a time I had as well as how good of a workout I had.
In the future I wish to make my teams selective team again next season as well as continue to improve my erg times. Because most of our team was made of seniors my freshman year, I want to step up and be a good leader and role model for the incoming freshman to fill the hole that they are missing in the leadership from the upperclassmen. I also wish to keep my grades up throughout the next few years of school. Somethings I am looking forward to in college are becoming a better person through new experiences such as new classes and rowing in college.
