At first, I wanted nothing to do with volleyball. From only experiencing volleyball in third-grade gym class, I thought I was better off sticking to soccer and basketball. I started playing in fourth grade because my mom signed me up. My first season in fourth grade was not my favorite but I continued with it and I played with my church's volleyball team in sixth grade. I believe my experience with that team led me to fall in love with the sport.
I believe that being involved in club volleyball for five seasons has completely influenced who I am. Going through tough coaches to great coaches and difficult teammates to meeting my best friends. I have learned to speak up when it is necessary and to keep quiet when it is necessary as well. Meeting new people has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and discover new things about myself.
My academic goals for my high school career are to maintain my GPA, remain in National Honor Society and become a yearbook editor my senior year. I have worked hard since my freshman year to maintain my 3.85 GPA and I believe I can continue that through my senior year of high school. A goal I have for college is to maintain the work ethic I have had throughout high school.
At the end of sophomore year and the beginning of my junior year, I went through two concussions. I missed many practices and workouts and I am still trying to deal with some smaller obstacles of my last concussion. Missing school and not being able to be active really tore me down mentally. I was not able to play in districts this year due to my most recent concussion as well. I have gone through weeks of physical therapy and many doctors appointments. Concussions have been the most devastating part and biggest obstacle of my volleyball career.
I believe am right for your team because of my positivity, encouragement and work ethic. I am an accountable teammate and player on the court.
