My name is Avery Wright and I am currently a junior at Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Minnesota. I began rowing for the Minnesota Boat Club in the summer of 2017 and have fallen in love with the sport ever since. I participated in the 114th and 115th annual NWIRA (North West International Rowing Association) Championships, helping my team win the Lipton Cup both years. I participated in the Midwest Junior Championships for the first time in the spring of 2018, where I was a part of the winning Girls' Novice 4X. This upcoming summer, my team and I hope to qualify our Girls' Varsity 4X for the 2019 USRowing Youth National Championships.
I have also been a competitive swimmer for over eight years, and a part of the Stillwater Swim and Dive team for five years, where I am looking forward to being team captain my senior year. The Stillwater Swim and Dive team has been deemed invincible by currently holding the state record of having won over 150 consecutive dual meets since 2001. I participated in several state meets during my club swimming career, as well as being a section finalist for the past three years on my high school team. I am currently an All-Conference swimmer for my high school league. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and the Stillwater Speech team.
In college, I intend to major in pre-medical studies or psychology. I also plan to row competitively in Division I, II, or III. I am looking for a larger, public, coeducational, non denominational school, but my options remain open.
