I've been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. I played for rec teams and youth programs until finally joining my first club team... as a forward. That first season, our team lost nearly every game and eventually, I decided to do something about it. That year, I decided I was going to play keeper, desperate to keep the ball out of the net and hopefully allow our team to win a few games. I taught myself to be a keeper, and along the way, learned discipline as well as committing and staying loyal to my team. During my childhood, I'd always considered myself a hockey player first, a sport I'd been playing just as long as soccer. While focusing on hockey, I never realized how much I truly loved soccer, and while I used to love hockey, I realized I'd only kept playing because I couldn't imagine my life without it. Once I reached high school, I decided to fully commit myself to soccer, because it was what I loved doing, not what people expected me to do. Over the past few years, I’ve traveled with my club all around the country to different showcases and tournaments. I've had a blast and gained exposure to top clubs and college coaches. As a teammate, players and coaches can always rely on my focus and commitment on the field. While off the field, I’m a good friend, a good listener- and I like to bring some fun and humor to the team! My overall goal is to maintain that excitement and passion for the game, as well as play soccer in college, because 3 more years just isn't enough! I would be honored to share my experience, dedication, and skill with other players while still getting to do what I love!
As far as academics go, I put a great deal of effort and energy into maintaining my grades. My goal throughout middle and high school has been to preserve a 4.0 gpa, a goal I have achieved so far. I also take advantage of every opportunity to enroll in advanced placement (college credit) and overall challenging classes. I hate being bored with school and love to challenge myself both academically and on the field! As for school and sports, I try my best to balance them. As a student athlete I learned to manage my own life pretty quickly. Of course, my parents love and support me, but learning to manage school, sports, family, and friends on my own has taught me dedication, commitment, and perseverance. I believe these are qualities that I can provide both on and off the field. I know I would bring a coachable, strong, and stabilizing goalkeeper to a team’s backline while being an excellent student, learner, and positive contributor within the campus community. Considering this, I’m looking for a college that, most importantly, supports and challenges me academically as well as a college where I can continue to play keeper!
