Kathleen McDaniel '19 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing many sports for years—soccer, field hockey, figure skating, but I have fallen in love with rowing. I started rowing a little last spring and I was hooked! I rowed a bit more this past fall during field hockey season, and decided that rowing is the sport for me. I attended my first regatta this fall (2018) and had things go wrong in every event I was in: my teammate's seat popped off its tracks, a teammate got sick in the boat, a teammate grabbed the wrong oars for the boat. But I loved each and every minute, and I improved my time and form with each race. At the last event, I missed the podium by three seconds, and I knew that I wanted more. I wanted that podium! I know I am a novice rower, fresh off the boat literally, but I know with my athleticism and determination to the best, I will improve quickly. I want to learn and train to be the best rower I can. Both on the field and in the classroom, I am a quick learner, a hard worker, and a natural leader.
