My personal collegiate goals are to participate in a NCAA Division I or Division III Rowing team. I plan on going into the Medical Field or Sports Management when I'm in college. I've always had a passion for pursuing medicine, specifically optometry or dermatology. And growing up in a family of athletes has also inspired me to pursue a career in the sports industry and row in college. My goal is to major in Pre-Optometry and minor in Sports Management if the choice is offered. In addition, I am fluent in the Russian language because of my Russian family roots. I can speak, read, and write in Russian. Also, I have been taking French since 6th grade and plan on taking AP French my senior year along with continuing to learn the language in college. I am working on becoming trilingual. I enjoy learning languages because I believe that communication with different people from all kinds of cultures is key to bringing about change in the world. I enjoy spending the free time (that I quite rarely have being in school and sports) learning beneficial things that will help me become a better person now and for the future.
Also, I was a Figure Skater for seven years up until the end of middle school. I became a Double Gold Medalist of US Figure Skating during my 8th grade year. Being a part of this sport taught me the importance of managing my schedule, accepting failures, and working hard to improve myself in order to achieve my goals. This sport taught me how to train my body to listen and to be able to handle pain. Not only did figure skating prepare me for Rowing in high school (physically), but it also taught me how to dedicate my time to my school work and to work hard to achieve top grades in all my Accelerated/AP level classes. I look forward to participating in Rowing in college because I have been a student-athlete all my life and want to continue that kind of lifestyle into my future years.
