My aspirations as a college student are to be able to enjoy a vibrant social life while still being academically challenged and able to enjoy my sport. Studying international relations is important to me as I am very well-traveled and throughout my childhood I was constantly exposed to new cultures and experiences. Since I also have a passion for social justice, these two fields combine well under the topic of international relations.
I would be a good candidate for any collegiate team as I am confident, well-spoken, and hard-working. As a coxswain, my best traits are displayed as I am able to carry out a coach's instructions efficiently and confidently in order to maximize the results of each practice. I also tend to be quite good at thinking on my feet which allows me to be able to make quick decisions while on the water or during a race.
I am different from other recruits as I have a very gregarious and vibrant personality. I love meeting new people and I enjoy cracking jokes with them in order to form bonds. I have an especially close bond with the rowers that I cox; a bond I find necessary to create in order to row a successful race. My athletics are unique as I have both experience as a rower and as a coxswain. This past experience allows me to be able to see both perspectives and make more informed decisions and calls while on the water and out. This past experience has also allowed me to garner respect from my teammates as they do not see me as someone who watches them struggle physically, but one who has endured some of the same obstacles. Academically, I am unique as it is clear where my interests and passions are. I have consistently pursued language, history, and English studies in many honors and AP classes and I have found myself thriving and enjoying the learning process. Even within the classes I am less passionate about, I am able to maintain an understanding of the material that allows me to maintain good grades within these more personally difficult classes.
I like to challenge myself to see how well I can perform under certain pressures in certain circumstances. So far in my high school career I have been quite successful and I look forward to both college and the recruitment process as an exciting challenge to further my individual growth.
