I have been rowing since freshman year and immediately fell in love with the sport. Being a rower has strengthened my leadership and team-building qualities, both on and off the river. My determination in training year-round has proven my dedication to not only the sport, but also my team. An obstacle I overcame occurred during my freshman year when my house caught fire before Thanksgiving. I quickly learned the difficulty of sudden change and had to adapt to living in a hotel for seven and a half months. This experience forced me to persevere through hardship and continue my training by erging in a small hotel room and going on runs around the hotel complex. As a strong rower and student, I possess the qualities of being assertive, dedicated, and determined that enable me to be driven to success in all that I do.
