Recently, I was driving with my mom when we saw some boats out on a river, as I admired them and smiled, she asked me what about rowing made me so happy. I stopped and thought for a minute, ever since I tried rowing about a year and a half ago, it just seemed like something clicked. Coming from a 10+ year background in competitive cheerleading, I tried rowing in spring 2022 just out of curiosity and because of a nudge from my friend. I really enjoyed it, so I decided to join a club team and continue through the summer, and I realized I didn’t intend to stop anytime soon. What I really love about rowing is the environment, both how motivating it is to push myself to my limits, and how welcoming yet challenging the atmosphere is on my team as well as around other teams at regattas. During winter training, I found joy in working hard and seeing progress, which is now transferring to the water. After battling with an injury for a while, my love for the sport persisted through months of cross training, which all paid off as I was able to get back on the water successfully.
