Hello,
My name is Ava Chavez, and I am currently a rising senior at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy where I have played high school varsity basketball as a starter since 8th grade. I have also played AAU since 4th grade, where I began as a center, and developed into a shooting guard/small forward. This basketball season I decided to try out crew at my school instead. I quickly began to love rowing, and pushing myself in a completely new way. Although I was hesitant to make the switch from basketball to rowing, I am so glad that I did. I am a hard worker in the gym, at my job, on the river, and in school. I currently maintain a 3.19 GPA. My parents are to thank for giving me structure, and instilling a sense of dedication and drive in me from when I was young. I am still unsure of what I would like to study in college, but I am exploring my interests through the opportunities my school grants me, and on my own. I am very excited to get started in the recruiting process, and am eager to see where the future leads me.
