Hi, I'm Nora Lake! I joined my school's, The Hill School, rowing team my freshman year, but didn't get to compete due to an injury early in the season. For this reason, I was timid to continue with the sport. With a little convincing from family and one of the co-captain I decided to stay with the team. My injury was minor, so I had fully recovered and got to row the whole season. I rowed on the V2 girl's four as a 2 (port) seat. We made it to semis in Stotes. My sophomore season made me gain a passion for the sport and I decided to row in the fall and spring of my junior year and start looking into rowing in college. The summer of my sophomore year I rowed for 2 weeks through Conshohocken Rowing Center to learn how to scull as well. Hill, in the fall, offers small boat training where I was able to scull more in both a single and a double. I was able to compete in HOCR in my double as the bow seat. I competed in Varsity double races and JV single races for the rest of the fall season. This spring I rowed in the V1 four as 2 (starboard)seat again. We made it to semis again in Stotes and also made it to semis in Mid-Atlantics. I also served as a leader on the team, especially helping the novices adjust and learn how to improve. This summer (junior summer) I'm competing through Conshohocken Rowing Center. In my senior year, I will be rowing in the fall and spring as well.
Academically, I challenge myself with my courses, especially in the scientific field as it is what I'm interested in pursuing. I am a member of my school's LGBTQ+ club as well and try and help to contribute to that. I am serving as a prefect in my senior year in the sophomore girl's dorm. I have also been a big sister since my sophomore year for new students in my advisory.
