Hi! My name is Sydney Floyd and I am from Limerick, Pennsylvania. I first became interested in running when I first started playing soccer at the age of 3. I always knew I was faster than the other kids and it helped my advantage to score. My coach started telling me I should start running competitively when I was about 10. I started track when I was in 8th grade. Through track, I have learned what being a student athlete is. It helped me balance academics and sports at a young age and has shaped me into the person I am today. It has also taught me that I can always do better and to challenge myself and my teammates. However, getting to the spot I am at now has not been easy. During my sophomore track season, I suffered from a right hip strain in the beginning of the season. During the fall of 2019, I severely damaged my knee playing soccer. It's been a long road to recovery and while I couldn't compete for most of the 2019/2020 indoor season, I was able to finish out the season by winning the 55m and 200m races at our league championship and our State meets. I was very excited to compete during the Spring 2020 outdoor season, however COVID-19 had other plans for us.
I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically while also allowing me to compete and be the best student-athlete possible. Some unique characteristics and skills of mine include being a leader as I've been a captain of both the indoor and outdoor team since I was a sophomore. This has taught me patience, helped me to be outgoing, friendly, and to work well with others.
