Hi Coaches!
My name is Chandrika! I’ve been a competitive swimmer for the past 6 years, I was a strong athlete looking to always improve, but I yearned for a supportive team environment. That is when I came across rowing. In my Novice year at Austin Rowing Club, I won every single Novice race I competed in and pushed hard to row in the Varsity 8+. I got to row with the U17 8+ despite having rowed for less than eight months, we raced at Crew Classic placing 1st in petite finals, then Central Youth Championships where we placed 1st in Texas, and lastly at National Youth Championships we placed 1st in C finals.
After a long year, I fell in love with the sport. I enjoyed the challenges rowing had to offer and the supporting community that came along with it. Without a doubt, I knew I wanted to row at the collegiate level. As a new rower, I give it my all on and off the water, during pieces, lifts, and erging because, I want to have what it takes to row with a strong and passionate team. I want to row at a college that not only challenges me physically but, also academically. The goal that I’m constantly working towards as a rower is to one day place first at IRA National Championships, and race at the Olympic time trial for the lightweight double.
